Performance Coaching Programme – Enrolment Options


To ensure that we meet your specific needs, the UTDS Performance Coaching Programme is available in the following two formats:


1.      Open Enrolment – Registrants join a cohort with other individual participants


 2.     Bespoke Programme – This format is customized to meet the needs of an employer who is enroling multiple supervisors and/or managers as a private cohort. The size of these cohorts may range from six (6) to fifteen (15)

Ambassador Underwood is a senior management consultant, talent development specialist and professional coach with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. Specific areas of expertise include the design and implementation of learning and development programmes for public and private sector executives, along with executive and performance coaching. She is a certified Erickson Professional Coach (EPC), a Team Coaching Foundations Certified Coach and a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF).

Joan’s approach to coaching is personalized based on the specific needs of a given client. She first began coaching in 2012 as part of the Caribbean Leadership Project when she secured certification in the use of the EQi 2.0 emotional intelligence assessment instrument. Since then, she has expanded her focus to incorporate the following approaches:

  • Erickson International’s Solution-Focused Coaching: This approach to coaching is highly client-centred and action-oriented. Instead of concentrating on past experiences or reasons for present dissatisfaction, Solution-Focused coaching promotes change through a process leading to fundamental shifts in attitudes, behaviours and habit formation. 
  • GROW Model of Performance Coaching: While this model has been described as deceptively simple, it is a powerful tool for highlighting and maximizing inner potential. It is equally useful for problem solving and closing performance related gaps.
  • Narrative Coaching: In the words of its founder, Dr. David Drake, Narrative Coaching “is a mindful, experiential, and holistic approach that helps people shift their stories about themselves, others, and life itself to create new possibilities and new results”.
  • Belbin’s Team Roles: Leveraging the insights provided by this 360 degree assessment helps organisations and individual coachees optimize their contribution to team success.
  • Team Coaching Foundations Certified Coach: This approach designed by the Global Team Coaching Institute (GTCI) involves working with team leaders to build their capacity to coach the members of their team and address systemic issues thereby enabling them to ensure that the team adds value during all of its interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
